SOME CONTEXT
The Auction Industry represents a very large market worldwide and in the US generating billions every year. Many of the smaller and medium auction houses in the US were not integrating technology and still relying on physical auctions to run their sales, using antiquated websites or relying solely on congregated marketplaces where their brand would get lost.
We founded Auction Mobility in 2013 with the idea of creating a seamless digital experience for both bidders and auctioneers across various platforms. Our goal was to create a suite of digital products that we could brand to auction houses (white-labeled), and deliver a world-class user experience that enhanced engagement and brought auctions to the competitive online market.
My primary responsibility was to lead all design efforts for our digital products, spanning mobile and web platforms. This role required me to have a deep understanding of both the business needs of auction houses and the behavior of their users.
SIMPLIFIED THE BIDDING PROCESS
The core of Auction Mobility’s service is its bidding functionality, so my objective was to make this process as intuitive as possible, from browsing auction catalogs to placing final bids. My designs focused on reducing the number of steps in the user journey, ensuring that bidders could easily navigate the platform and place bids with confidence.
ENSURED ACCESSIBILITY
Since auction participants often used different devices (mobile, tablet, desktop), I was responsible for designing responsive interfaces that maintained a consistent user experience across all platforms. I applied best practices in responsive design to ensure the layouts adapted smoothly to various screen sizes and resolutions.

USER ENGAGEMENT
Auction Mobility needed to encourage users to stay engaged throughout the auction process, so I designed features that promoted seamless interaction. I incorporated real-time notifications, clear bidding statuses, and easy-to-read layouts that helped users stay informed and involved.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL TEAMS
My role extended beyond design; I worked closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure that the final product aligned with both the user needs and business goals. I was involved in the product development lifecycle from ideation to deployment, providing input on usability, functionality, and visual design.
The designs I created for Auction Mobility over the 10-year period had a significant and measurable impact on both the user experience and the company’s business performance. We eventually branded more than 500 auction houses across the US and expanded our reach internationally.
INCREASED USER ENGAGEMENT
By streamlining the bidding process and improving the overall usability of the platform, user engagement increased substantially. Auction participants were able to browse catalogs, place bids, and track auctions more easily, leading to higher participation rates during live and timed auctions.
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
Feedback from auction houses and users reflected a significant improvement in satisfaction due to the intuitive and visually appealing interfaces. This led to stronger client retention for Auction Mobility and positive reviews within the auction industry.
GLOBAL PLATFORM GROWTH
Auction Mobility’s platform scaled globally, becoming a trusted solution for auction houses in multiple markets. My consistent design efforts helped maintain a uniform, high-quality user experience, enabling the platform to grow its user base and expand into new regions.
MARKET DIFFERENTIATION
My design work helped Auction Mobility stand out in a competitive market by offering a user-friendly, feature-rich platform. This differentiation attracted high-profile clients and contributed to Auction Mobility’s reputation as an industry leader in auction technology.
